Court Supervisorsss
With the
Round Robin format of play, each Tournament Court will
function as a "stand alone" competition throughout the day.
Each court will be in effect, its own tournament.
The team that wins the most
games throughout the day on each court, as determined by the
Court Supervisor, will advance to the Playoffs to compete
for the overall Hoop Dreams Championship.
Each court will have a volunteer
Court Supervisor and a professional referee. The Court
Supervisor will function as the "Tournament Director" for
his or her court, and will also serve as the official
scorekeeper.
The Court Supervisor must have
basketball experience as a player, coach or referee, and
must have a working knowledge of the Hoop Dreams Tournament
Official Rules. He or she must be willing to make an all day
commitment on June 14th and should be willing to participate
in at least one pre-Tournament conference call and
one pre-Tournament meeting.
Duties & Responsibilities of the
Court Supervisor:
-
Each
court will be its own separate "tournament," and the Court
Supervisor will be the Tournament Director for that court.
-
Court
Supervisors will be permanently assigned to one court
throughout the day.
-
The
Court Supervisor will maintain the schedule of play for that
court, and will update a "scoreboard" that is located at
his/her court that displays the results of each game, and
each team's wins and losses.
-
The
Court Supervisor will determine which team advances to the
Playoffs, and will decide the winner in case of a tie.
-
The
Court Supervisor does not have the authority to overrule the
referee assigned to his/her court, but may, with discretion,
appeal to either the Head Referee, Tournament Commissioner
or the Tournament Director.
