Tournament Details
Round Robin
Format:
-
Compete
against players of approximately the same age, height and
experience. (Based on information provided by each team
when it registers.)
-
Play 6-7
times on the same court all day.
-
Simple
scheduling. After each game, remain at the same court and
play again soon.
-
Everyone
plays 9:00 AM-12:00 PM and 1:00-4:00 PM. No teams are
eliminated until the Playoffs begin.
-
The team
on each court winning the most games receives trophies and
advances to the Playoffs, as determined by the Court
Supervisor for that court.
-
The
"single elimination" Playoffs will be held from 4:00-5:30
PM, and will determine the overall Hoop Dreams Champion
for 2008.
-
Awards to
be presented to Round Robin winners and Playoff
winners following the Playoffs.
-
More
playing time. More competitive play. More winners. More
prizes. More fun.
Tournament Location
The Tournament will return to "America's Main Street," in 2008. The location is on Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd
Street to 6th Street, NW, directly in front of The United
States Capitol.
Jerseys/Team Uniforms
As an experiment this year we are asking each player to
bring a dark t-shirt (navy,
black, dark green, etc.) to the Tournament. When combined
with the white Sprit Tournament t-shirt each participant
will receive as a gift, each player/team will have a pair of
jerseys: "white" and a "dark." We ask that you work with
your opponents in each game and wear different color
jerseys. This will assist the officials and scorekeepers to
do a better job. Your cooperation will be greatly
appreciated.
Entry
Fee
The registration fee is $80 per team. All teams must have 3
players minimum and 5 maximum.

further basketball play after the Tournament begins, we will
hold our Entertainment and Speaking Program at 11:30 am in a
large tent, located near the intersection of Pennsylvania
